Arlington, VA — August 2, 2010 — International Relief and Development (IRD) is pleased to announce that Daniel Puls has joined the organization as Chief of Advancement. In this newly created role, Puls will build IRD’s first comprehensive fundraising and development program. He will be responsible for all private philanthropy activities and operations, including public-private partnerships, major gifts, and donor relations.

“Daniel brings great philanthropic experience and donor development success to IRD,” said Dr. Arthur Keys, President and CEO of IRD. “His work will help us to grow our portfolio of relief, stabilization, and development programs worldwide. We are excited to have him on board.”

Puls has more than 20 years of development, communications, and non-profit management experience to contribute to IRD’s ambitious new fundraising efforts. He previously served as the head of development operations at the Freedom House and the International Centre for Democratic Transition. He was the Executive Director of the Carpathian Foundation USA; Senior Advisor for the Central Eurasia Leadership Academy; and Senior Director at the EastWest Institute. Puls also currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Council for a Community of Democracies and as Senior Advisor on the Board of Directors of the International Centre for Democratic Transition. Puls holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Wisconsin.
