Our Stories

Belgrade, Serbia — November 20, 2006 — Today, IRD Serbia held a press conference and presentation of the Y-PEER network video production Zanimator, three ten-minute movies that provide youth with information regarding family planning and reproductive health.

The films were produced to combat the lack of accurate information about sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnacy, condom use, HIV/AIDS, and other methods of contraception.  Eminent Serbian experts contributed to the production, but youth peer educators, trained through Y-PEER in reproductive health issues and education techniques in order to educate other youth, acted and produced the films. The video materials will be broadcast on national and local media and used in Serbian high schools.

The press conference opened with the projection of one of the videos.  Youth actors participated in the conference immediately after the viewing.  Special guest for the event was Nikola Đuričko, actor and Y-PEER educator.

This project is part of the Community Revitalization through Democratic Action – Economy (CRDA-E) program, funded by the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The CRDA program is being implemented by IRD in fifteen municipalities of Western Serbia.
