Arlington, VA – March 16, 2010 – IRD is hosting a Haiti Benefit and Raffle on April 8, 2010. The goal is to raise $25,000 for IRD's Haiti Relief Fund. All the proceeds from the event will go directly to support the people of Haiti, to purchase basic humanitarian aid to implement IRD’s current shelter and sanitation programs, and to help cover airfreight and shipping costs to Port-au-Prince.

IRD has been distributing basic humanitarian aid since January, and was recently awarded government funding to provide long term assistance for shelter and sanitation in Leogane, the epicenter of the earthquake. But government funding does not cover all of IRD's expenses, such as the shipping and distribution of supplies.
