Friday’s Photo: IRD Partners with TOMS to provide Shoes for Armenians
This Friday's Photo pictures the happy recipients of TOMS shoes in Armenia. IRD partnered with "For Armenia," a local Armenian NGO, to distribute TOMS to the following provinces: Shirak (villages of Gyumri, Lernakert and Horom), Tavush (Gosh) and Armavir (Gai).
Clothing was also provided in the distributions. The President of "For Armenia" expressed his gratitude for the shoes, "I cannot describe the extent of happiness people have when receiving assistance. Mothers said that the money they would spend on clothes and shoes can now be redirected towards other needs." He went on to describe how one woman named Marine personally thanked him for the shoes, "She told me that recently she borrowed shoes from her neighbors to take the children to Yerevan. She kissed my hand and thanked me. Marine's kiss is for all those who do not forsake people that struggle and suffer in poverty."
IRD is excited to be partnering with TOMS and looks forward to other opportunities to work together in the near future.
